The Council of Opposition Candidates in Somalia has issued a strong statement condemning the action by Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers against protestors in Mogadishu.
On December 15, anti-government protestors took to the streets of the nation’s capital to speak out against the lack of proper preparations for elections by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
According to the Council of Opposition Candidates, officers from the Turkish-trained Haram’ad Police Unit shot at the protestors.
The statement by the opposition candidates shows that several protestors were killed and injured in the Tuesday afternoon fracas.
