Opposition candidates have informed Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo that he is no longer the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The politicians, meeting under the Council of Presidential Candidates’ Union, issued a statement to this effect.
In their statement, the candidates reminded Farmaajo that his term expires on February 8 at midnight.
Consequently, the Council told Farmaajo that it no longer recognizes him as president.
The Council is made up of 2 former presidents of Somalia and 12 candidates vying for the upcoming presidential elections.
Moreover, they also spoke about the need for forming a new body that would supervise preparations for parliamentary and presidential elections in the East African nation.
