Opposition parties in Somalia have faulted the failure by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to appoint a new Prime Minister.
The Forum for National Parties (FNP), a coalition of opposition parties, called Farmaajo “irresponsible and a dictator” for failing to appoint a new Prime Minister.
Hassan Ali Khaire, the immediate former Prime Minister, was voted out of office by the House of Representatives 53 days ago.
Since then, Farmaajo appointed Mahdi M. Gulaid the Acting Prime Minister.
At the time, Farmaajo promised to appoint a substantive Prime Minister as soon as possible to help prepare for the upcoming elections.
FNP said that Farmaajo was only interested in “exercising absolute power and realizing his personal interest” by not appointing a Prime Minister to lead the government.
Consequently, FNP termed as “unconditional and inapplicable” all the work the current cabinet is doing under Mahdi M. Gulaid.
