Mahdi Osman Buri, Somaliland’s Deputy Minister of Health, has condemned opposition parties in the country for failing to contribute to the COVID-19 kitty.
Buri said two opposition parties had failed to heed to the appeal issued by the government for national political parties to join the fight against COVID-19.
Instead of contributing to the kitty, Buri noted that the parties had accelerated their attacks and criticisms against the government.
He urged the parties to change their ways saying, “COVID-19 is an unseen enemy that we can only defeat through joint efforts including by opposition parties.”
Somaliland confirmed its first COVID-19 case in March 2019 and since then the country has recorded over 500 cases.
