The announcement by Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre that Somalia’s 2020/21 elections would proceed on schedule has been applauded by Wadajir Party.
Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, the leader of the opposition party, welcomed the news.
He tweeted his pleasure with PM Kheyre’s announcement and promise of timely, peaceful, and inclusive elections in the country.
Recently, opposition parties have expressed their misgivings with the upcoming elections, with many of them firmly believing that the government intends to postpone the polls.
Similarly, many stakeholders have asked the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) to issue a detailed report showing their preparedness for the upcoming historic elections.
Warsame also displayed his joy with the PM Kheyre’s conviction that the elections are the most important tools for ensuring that the country remains peaceful and stable.
