Opposition to Hold Rally on March 6 in Mogadishu

The Council of Presidential Candidates Union has announced that it would hold its anti-government rally on March 6.

The union, which comprises 14 presidential candidates from the opposition, announced this in its meeting with Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

It held the meeting with Roble on March 1 at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

Somalia’s opposition was to hold its second rally on February 26.

However, it postponed this for 10 days following the first round of talks held with Roble on Thursday last week.

Now, it held another meeting with Roble on Monday at which it was announced that the rally would now take place on Saturday.

Two committees were formed to investigate the clashes that took place on February 19, when the opposition planned to hold its first rally.

The committees and the opposition agreed that the March 6 rally would proceed peacefully.
