Outgoing UN Special Representative Bids Somalis Goodbye in Moving a Video

The outgoing United Nations Special Representative to Somalia has bid Somalis goodbye in a moving video.

James Swan, who has served as the UN Special Representative to Somalia for the last three-and-a-half-years, released the video on Saturday, October 29.

He expressed gratitude to every person who has made his tour of duty a success.

In his speech, Swan admitted that Somalia remains a “complicated” country that offers more to learn.

He asked leaders in different spheres of life to contribute to the well-being of the country.

The UN Special Envoy also urged Somalis across the country to work together for the good of the East African nation.

Nevertheless, he praised the country for the huge strides it has made over the years.

“I wish you the best as this country advances over the coming years,” he said.

He concluded his message by assuring Somalis that the UN would continue supporting and standing by the country.
