Close to 213,180 people in Somalia are at risk of facing famine from June-September 2022.
That is according to a report by the Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU) of Somalia.
FSNAU issued the latest report on the worrying situation in the East African nation on Saturday, June 4.
In its report, FSNAU shows that Somalia faces an increased risk of famine.
The situation is worsened by the realization that Somalia currently grapples with different challenges.
These include acute food insecurity. Others are increased mortality and malnutrition.
Around 52.7 percent of these cases, which translates to 112,470 individuals, are in the regional state of Southwest.
