Over 245,000 Somalis Displaced by Drought, Says UN

The United Nations has announced that more than 245,000 Somalis have been displaced by the ongoing drought in Somalia.

UN published the latest data on January 18.

Two months ago in November 2021, the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) had declared a state of emergency as drought ravaged huge swathes of the country.

Consequently, the government opted to establish the National Drought Relief Committee (NDRC).

The NDRC’s primary agenda was to tackle the drought.

In the ensuing period, NDRC has been at the forefront in distributing foodstuff to the affected households and individuals in different parts of the country.
