Phase two of the withdrawal of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) forces from Somalia is underway.
ATMIS is expected to reduce its forces in Somalia by a further 3,000 by December 31, 2023.
In doing so, ATMIS would be complying with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2710 of 2023.
The first phase of the drawdown took place mid this year.
