Phase II of Hobyo Port Project to be Completed by February 2023

Phase II of the Hobyo Port project in the regional state of Galmudug is to be completed within the next 18 months.

Senator Abshir Axmad, the First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, revealed this news on August 26.

In his statement, Senator Axmad indicated that Phase I of the project had already been completed.

Under the first phase, the port is now capable of serving not only the regional state but also neighboring regions too.

Phase II will endeavor to increase the port’s capacity for handling more clients, ships, and cargo. It would also improve the port’s ability to provide better clearance services.

Senator Axmad expressed his gratitude to the Galmudug Ministry of Ports and Fisheries.

Specifically, he singled out Abdisabir Shurie, the state’s Minister of Ports and Fisheries, for providing excellent leadership.
