Gamal M. Hassan, the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, said that Somali journalists should never be persecuted for doing their work.
Hassan said this on March 28 when he met Omar Faruk Osman, the Secretary General of National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) in his office.
Kilwe Aden, a prominent Somali journalist who has just been released from police detention, accompanied Osman to the meeting with Gamal.
During their meeting, the three discussed ways of protecting journalists and ensuring that they work in safe environment.
Gamal hailed Osman and Kilwe as “two prominent Somali advocates for press freedom.”
