Prime Minister Roble Urges Mogadishu Residents to Return to Their Homes

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has encouraged Mogadishu residents to return to their homes.

Roble issued a statement on April 28 urging the residents who fled their homes over Sunday’s clashes to return.

He said that the government is committed to ensuring that the capital city remains safe for all residents.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Roble directed security forces to ensure that those returning home do so in a climate of safety.

He directed security forces to facilitate the return of the residents who fled three days ago.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that close to 100,000 residents fled their homes since last weekend.

In its report, OCHA said that a big portion of those who fled to the outskirts of the capital city were internally displaced persons (IDPs).
