On November 3, 2024, Dr. Hanan Balkhy, the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO) of the World Health Organization (WHO), met with Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre.
Their discussions focused on advancing health priorities in Somalia.
During the meeting, PM Barre emphasized that improving access to healthcare is a high priority for Somalia.
He added that the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and addressing health challenges remains just as steadfast.
PM Barre mentioned that the government will continue expanding access to essential services for the Somali population.
