PM Gulaid Receives Report from Commission Investigating Mogadishu Central Prison Killings

Mahdi M. Gulaid, Somalia’s Acting Prime Minister, received the report from the commission appointed to investigate the killings that took place at Mogadishu Central Prison last week.

The committee handed over the report to Prime Minister Gulaid on Wednesday August 19.

In its report, the committee mentioned that the weapons used by the inmates to kill four prison guards had been smuggled into the facility on August 8 and 10.

Furthermore, the committee called for action to be taken against the Commander and Deputy Commander of the Central Prison for their role in the affair.

While receiving the report, Gulaid commended members of the committee for the excellent work they had done.

He now urged the judiciary to handle issues regarding the matter effectively when the government brings all the evidence before it.
