The police officers who were responsible for the clashes reported in Dhusamareb are currently under arrest.
Dhusamareb’s police commander confirmed their arrest to the media during an interview on Saturday.
Earlier on February 12, clashes broke out between two factions of the government troops in the region.
One faction reportedly backs Abdirahman Abdishakur while the other is solidly behind Abdullahi Kulane Jiis.
Abdishakur is the leader of Wadajir Party while Jiis was formerly the Deputy Director at National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
The Dhusamareb police commander confirmed that the officers who participated in the scuffle are cooling their heels behind the bar.
He also ruled out claims that the region is rife with tension ahead of the elections for parliamentary seats, which Abdishakur and Jiis are both vying.
