Pregnant mothers in Somalia have benefited from financial assistance that the European Union (EU) has been dishing out.
The mothers are beneficiaries of a program that has brought together Save The Children, the EU, and Somalia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA).
The program is known as the SAGAL Social Protection Project.
Different organizations have formed the Somali Cash Consortium to ensure that the funds get to the neediest pregnant mothers.
The funds are quite helpful at a time when the ongoing drought has made the situation quite risky and life-threatening to millions of Somalis.
SAGAL is an EU-funded project.
The labour ministry implements it while Save The Children works closely with the Somali Cash Consortium to provide social transfers to pregnant and lactating mothers in the country.
