President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland has bid the outgoing European Union (EU) Ambassador farewell in his upcoming responsibilities.
Nicolas Berlanga, who has served as the EU Ambassador to Somalia over the last few years, is now leaving the country.
On Monday morning, Bihi and Berlanga met at the Presidential Palace for what could be the last meeting between them.
Before their meeting, the two first had a diplomatic handshake.
On their part, opposition parties commended Ambassador Berlanga for playing a crucial role in enhancing relations between Somaliland and the EU.
Bihi assured Berlanga that the people of Somaliland would always view him as an ally. He also told Berlanga that his reputation as a “great diplomat” in the country would also remain intact.
On Sunday, opposition leaders held a farewell reception in Ambassador Berlanga’s honor.
