Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni has accused Federal Government of Somalia’s President Mohamed Farmaajo of orchestrating Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire’s ouster.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Khaire was ousted after the Federal Parliament passed a vote of no confidence against him.
At the time, Prime Minister Khaire was in Dhusamareb together with President Farmaajo holding meetings with the five regional leaders over Somalia’s upcoming elections.
In Mogadishu, 170 Members of Parliament (MPs) voted in favor of the motion thus kicking the Prime Minister out of office.
Farmaajo accepted parliament’s decision the same day and agreed to appoint a new Prime Minister as soon as possible.
According to Deni, parliament committed an “illegality” in removing Khaire out of office. He further hailed Khaire’s commitment and sincerity to the Dhusamareb talks.
Deni said Puntland was “unhappy” with the latest developments, which are designed to destroy the confidence that regional leaders have worked extra hard to cultivate from the public.
