President Said Abdullahi Deni met with Puntland Regional Parliament on Friday, November 27 to discuss the ongoing misunderstandings on the ports deal.
During the meeting, parliament agreed to Deni’s proposal to allow his administration to handle any issues with P&O Ports.
P&O Ports is a subsidiary of DP World.
The Puntland administration awarded it the contract to expand and develop Bossaso Port, in northeastern Somalia.
However, there have been a few unresolved issues regarding the contract between the regional government and P&O Ports.
With approval from parliament, President Deni can now focus on finding solutions to the disagreements with the ports operator.
