President-Elect Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has welcomed the decision to redeploy United States troops back to Somalia.
He welcomed the decision that President Joe Biden made to redeploy 500 US troops back to Somalia.
Biden issued the decree authorizing the redeployment of the US forces to Somalia on Monday, May 16.
He made the decision a few hours after Mohamud was elected the new President of Somalia.
In his message to Biden, President-Elect Mohamud said that the US has been one of Somalia’s most reliable partners.
Furthermore, Mohamud said that Somalia has benefited greatly from US support in the fight against terrorism and the quest for stability.
