President Mohamed Farmaajo met with officials from the European Union in Addis Ababa. The President of the EU Council led the officials from the EU at the meeting in Ethiopia’s capital too.
Reports from the Office of the President in Mogadishu confirmed that the meeting took place. His office said he held a successful meeting with President Charles Michel of the EU Council.
The meeting tackled a myriad of issues that include the rebuilding of Somalia. Other issues were the need to strengthen institutions in the country.
Issues affecting the Horn of Africa region were also covered. Progress that Somalia has made in improving security and undertaking economic reforms also received attention.
While in Addis Ababa, President Farmaajo also met with the Prime Ministers of Norway and Canada. He had the opportunity to meet several other leaders too.
The meetings took place during the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the AU. He will return to the country later today.
