President Mohamud Hosts Banquet for Somali Scholars

MOGADISHU, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia held a state banquet in Mogadishu last evening to recognize prominent Islamic scholars attending the 3rd National Conference of Somali Scholars. The gathering signified the end of the significant forum, where religious figures from throughout the nation discussed key national matters.

At the dinner, President Mohamud commended the Ulema for their vital contributions in shaping public awareness, countering radical ideologies, and promoting national cohesion. He stressed that Somali culture’s resilience and governance’s soundness stem from the insight, advice, and ethical direction offered by the nation’s religious scholars.

Emphasizing the administration’s dedication to embedding religious counsel within government bodies, the President announced a groundbreaking step: scholars have been newly integrated into the Somali National Armed Forces for the first time. This effort seeks to deliver ethical direction and spiritual backing to soldiers, protecting them from dangerous ideologies while maintaining moral principles.

President Mohamud endorsed the resolutions and statements from the 3rd National Conference’s close. He confirmed the government’s serious consideration of the scholars’ suggestions, seeing them as key to bolstering state development, safeguarding Islamic principles, and countering the false messages from terrorist organizations.

The President underscored the importance of a strong, ongoing alliance between the government and religious leaders, stating that their joint efforts are crucial for Somalia’s peace and stability.
