Mogadishu: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has expressed sympathies to the family and coworkers of Dr Omar Aden Cade, a prominent healthcare professional and dedicated servant in Somalia’s medical establishment, who has passed away. According to a statement released by the president, Dr Cade devoted many years to government service, especially in the Ministry of Health, where he occupied various leadership positions and contributed to developing the country’s healthcare policies. The president highlighted that Dr Cade continued his work during Somalia’s period of state failure and armed conflict, managing urgent medical situations and reconstructing fundamental health services when governmental structures had mostly ceased functioning. “His role in maintaining and advancing the health sector will not be forgotten,” the statement emphasized. President Mohamud requested divine mercy for the departed and conveyed support to Somalia’s medical fraternity, characterizing Dr Cade’s demise as a major setback for the nation’s healthcare system.
