Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday and held discussions with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.
The talks reportedly focused on strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing security cooperation, and coordinating troop arrangements for the new African Union peace mission, AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
President Mohamud is in Addis Ababa to join his colleagues from around the continent for the election of the new Chairperson of the AU Commission (AUC), which takes place on February 15.
The Somali President traveled to Ethiopia directly from Azerbaijan where he had been on an official visit for much of this week.
