President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called for help from the international community to avert famine in Somalia.
The Somali President said this while delivering his speech before fellow leaders at the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
He addressed UNGA77 on Thursday, September 22.
President Mohamud claimed that Somalis in the country are facing one of the worst droughts and humanitarian crises in the nation’s history.
He reminded the world that nothing would save Somalia except urgent interventions.
Experts have repeatedly warned that Somalia could experience a devastating famine before the end of the year.
Mohamud called for immediate support and relief from the international community to “the most affected communities” in Somalia.
