President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held discussions with the leader of the regional state of Southwest.
Mohamud arrived in Baidoa on May 31.
Immediately, he held a meeting with President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen of the Southwest state.
Southwest elders and cultural leaders were at the meeting too.
The visit was the first by President Mohamud outside Mogadishu since he took over from ex-President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo after winning the May 15 elections.
He commended the Southwest elders and cultural leaders for playing a crucial role in peace-building and social cohesion.
President Mohamud assured the elders that his administration would work closely with them to advance reconciliation in Southwest and other parts of the country.
