President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has laid a wreath at the Daljirka-Dahsoon Statue in Mogadishu.
The President laid the wreath on Friday, July 1 while leading the country in celebrating the 62nd anniversary of gaining independence.
President Mohamud is carrying out presidential functions for the first time since Friday, June 24 when he tested positive for COVID-19.
The southern regions of the country gained their independence in 1960.
The same year, the south and north united to form one country.
