President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that Ethiopia has to use the right channels if it seeks access to any seaport in Somalia.
The President said this on Monday while delivering his keynote address at the East African Community (EAC) Summit in Mogadishu.
“Uganda has access to Kenya’s seaport. Burundi and Rwanda have no problem accessing the seaport in Tanzania neither does Ethiopia struggle to access Djiboutian sea,” he said.
“However, Ethiopia must follow these examples to access any seaport in Somalia,” he added.
The President’s comments followed the controversial seaport agreement that Ethiopia signed with Somaliland six months ago.
“We are not against other countries having access to our sea,” added President Mohamud.
