President Mohamud Visits IDP Camp in Baidoa

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud visited a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Baidoa.

The Somalia President, who is currently on a peace caravan visit to Baidoa, visited the IDP camp on Wednesday, June 1.

Mohamud arrived in Baidoa on Tuesday, May 31.

He’s making his first trip outside Mogadishu since winning the presidential elections held on May 15.

President Mohamud visited the IDP camp to evaluate the extent of the ongoing drought in Southwest state.

He interacted with members of families displaced from their homes because of the ongoing drought.

The Somali leader reassured the IDPs of his government’s commitment to fast-tracking the coordination of emergency response measures to the affected areas.
