President Mustafe M. Omer of the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia discussed the ongoing drought with a top United Nations official.
Omer discussed the humanitarian crisis arising from the drought with Daniel Endries.
Endries is the UN Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for East Africa.
A communiqué from President Omer’s office indicates that he reached a few agreements with Endries.
First, they both agreed on the need to scale up ongoing drought response activities in the region.
Next, Omer and Endries agreed that a timely response to the crisis is not only important but also urgent.
