President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of Galmudug state has lauded leaders from the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States for signing the elections agreement.
Last week on Thursday, a communiqué from Villa Somalia indicated that leaders attending the National Consultation Conference had ironed out all the contentious issues on elections.
In the agreement, FGS and FMS leaders listed several issues that they agreed on.
These included the electoral model, elections dates, the number of delegates, and the role of the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC).
On Saturday September 19, Qoorqoor expressed gratitude to the leaders who signed the crucial deal during the closing ceremony of the conference.
He stated that it was an “honor” to attend the conference with his colleagues and create the right conditions for organizing peaceful elections and smooth political transition.
