Galmudug’s President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor launched an initiative among local businessmen and leaders to construct Hobyo Port.
The construction of the port is scheduled to enhance trade in the region and influence investments and development too.
Last year, the government of Qatari had pledged to embark on the construction of an ultra-modern port in the region but those plans are yet to materialize.
Nevertheless, President Qoorqoor has opted to bring business leaders on board in a public-private partnership (PPP) that is set to change the local developmental landscape.
Qoorqoor promised that once Hobyo Port is up and running, trade among the locals would improve significantly.
He also avowed that the port is likely to boost trade with other states in the region. The president asked local investors to prepare to raise capital needed for constructing the port.
