President Mohamed Abdi Waare of the HirShabelle State led his cabinet into a meeting to discuss the floods that have ravaged the region.
The meeting, which was held in Beledweyne City, discussed the prevailing humanitarian situation in the region.
Members of the cabinet also talked about the ongoing efforts that President Waare’s administration has put in place to mitigate the effects of the flood in Hiran region.
Heavy Gu’ downpour in Beledweyen and the surrounding areas caused unimaginable losses to residents.
President Waare asked members of the cabinet to work extra hard to protect local residents in case River Shabelle’s banks burst.
Currently, the floods have forced residents to leave their homes and become Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) without guarantees of receiving any assistance from aid agencies.
