President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle State in Somalia has expressed his gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for donating food to flood victims in the region.
HirShabelle has been hit hard by flash floods that followed the just-ended season of heavy rainfall.
The floods have displaced thousands of people from their homes in HirShabelle and around the country thus making it hard for them to feed themselves or their loved ones.
The Sultanate of Oman recently sent a donation of foodstuff to the country to be distributed to those affected by the floods.
In HirShabelle, President Ware oversaw the distribution of food in Mahadday District.
While launching the food distribution, Ware also lamented that the region is fertile and capable of feeding itself without depending on donations.
