Prime Minister Discusses Security in Somalia with International Partners

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble held a meeting with Somalia’s international partners to discuss security in the country ahead of elections.

The high-level meeting involved senior officers from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).

Representatives from the United Nations, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and other international partners were present at the December 1 meeting.

Roble said that the security sector deserves effective governance to bear fruits for all Somalis.

He also reiterated the importance of security for the country’s stability and “long-term consolidation of democracy.”

The Prime Minister also urged institutions in Somalia to work closely to ensure that the country benefits from sustainable economic growth and social development.

Roble made these statements while chairing a meeting of the Security and Justice Committee, which was established in 2017.

The committee offers an avenue for cooperation between the federal and regional governments and international partners to enhance security and justice in Somalia.
