Prime Minister Roble to Present New Cabinet to Parliament for Approval

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble is expected to present his new cabinet to the House of Representatives for approval.

According to insiders, Prime Minister Roble would be presenting the list to parliament on Saturday, October 24.

The new cabinet cannot take office and start working unless the Lower House approves the list of new nominees.

Roble, a political novice picked out from the private sector by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo in September to be the new Prime Minister, appointed 27 ministers this week.

Fifty percent of the ministers previously served under Hassan Ali Khaire’s regime.

Roble opted to reappoint them.

If approved by parliament, the old ministers would be serving together with their new cabinet colleagues under Roble.

President Farmaajo congratulated Roble for appointing the new cabinet and urged the House of Representatives to approve the ministers fast.

The ministers are likely to serve for only four months until the country goes into parliamentary elections in December 2020.
