Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye, a prominent journalist and editor working for Goobjoog News, has been summoned to appear before a Mogadishu court.
Gurbiye was arrested in April 14, 2020 after being asked to appear at Hodan Police Station in Mogadishu via a letter sent to the management of Goobjoog Media Group.
However, Goobjoog condemned his arrest as “illegal” and part of the government’s efforts to suppress press freedom in the country.
Latest reports indicate that Abdiaziz is now required to show up at a Mogadishu court to respond to charges filed against him over a post he published on Facebook.
