Somalia’s Health Minister, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, has confirmed that public hospitals managed by the health ministry charge patients a small fee under the “cost recovery” model.
This fee is intended to help hospitals cover their expenses, particularly the significant debts related to utility bills.
Speaking on Friday, the health minister urged members of public to support the hospital’s by paying the fee.
The decision to implement this model is likely due to the financial constraints faced by public healthcare institutions, ensuring they can maintain operations and provide services amidst limited resources.
