Puntland and Jubbaland have expressed dismay at the announcement that the technical committee recently appointed to solve electoral crisis has organized a second meeting in Mogadishu.
Reports from the nation’s capital indicate that the technical committee is meeting on March 18 at Decale Hotel, which is at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
Statements released from Garowe and Kismayo, the administrative capitals of Puntland and Jubbaland respectively, indicate that the two regional states are unaware of such a meeting taking place.
Apparently, the 14-member technical committee holds their meeting on Thursday ahead of next week’s talks between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).
A recent session involving FGS and FMS resolved to appoint the technical committee to discuss contentious issues preventing elections from taking place. The committee is also laying the groundwork for further talks between all respective stakeholders.
