Puntland Forces Intercept Supplies Bound for ISIS Remnants

Puntland, Somalia – Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operations (PCTO) troops have intercepted a vehicle carrying supplies allegedly intended for areas still harboring remnants of the Islamic State group. The operation took place on the route to Almiskat, a mountainous area in Puntland’s Bari region known for recent security operations targeting ISIS hideouts.

According to security officials, the vehicle’s cargo included food items, solar panels, and communication equipment — materials deemed critical for sustaining militant activity. The driver was captured and brought to Turmasale Village for questioning. Authorities suspect the goods were being smuggled to support militants who are facing an intensified clearance campaign by Puntland forces.

Under Puntland’s current counter-terrorism directives, no supplies may be delivered to areas under security operations without formal government approval. Officials said this restriction is essential to prevent logistical support from reaching insurgent elements.

PCTO units have recently stepped up patrols and checkpoints along strategic routes in Bari, part of a broader effort to dismantle ISIS networks entrenched in the rugged Almiskat Mountains. The latest seizure underscores the region’s ongoing security challenges despite recent operational gains.
