Puntland’s High Court has approved the decision by the House of Representatives to strip eight Members of Parliament (MPs) of their immunity.
A few days ago, the regional parliament voted overwhelmingly to strip eight MPs of their rights to immunity.
The legislators were accused of violating the constitution.
Afterward, the aggrieved regional lawmakers took the matter to court for adjudication.
However, the High Court sitting in Puntland has determined that parliament was right to take such an action against the legislators.
Moreover, the regional parliament has now ordered federal parliament to replace those eight MPs as soon as possible.
