The Federal Member States (FMS) of Puntland, HirShabelle, and Galmudug are to name their candidates for the upcoming senatorial elections soon.
Leaders of the three regional states are scheduled to name their candidates in the next few hours.
The first leader to present his list could be President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland who promised to do so on the afternoon of August 7.
By doing so, President Deni hopes that Puntland would be the third state behind Jubaland and Southwest to hold senatorial elections.
President Ali Guudlawe and President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of HirShabelle and Galmudug respectively are expected to follow suit within the next 24 hours.
Somalia is currently in an electioneering period that should culminate in presidential elections soon.
