Puntland Launches Infrastructure Week in Garowe

The regional state of Puntland launched the “Infrastructure Week” in Garowe on September 21.

Puntland’s Vice President Ahmed Elmi Karaash was at hand to launch the start of an important week where the government puts more emphasis on infrastructure development.

During the event, Karaash said that the government had already signed four agreements that cover the first phase of the rehabilitation of a wide array of infrastructure.

He said that the government would focus on the rehabilitation of roads and bridges in different parts of the region.

Vice President Karaash announced that 45 bridges would be worked on in Phase One.

The bridges are between Bosaso and Kalabayr.

Additionally, a 9km stretch of road linking Sinujiif to Qal-Qaallooc would also receive the government’s attention.

The projects are scheduled for completion in the next 6-8 months.
