Puntland President and Vice President have disagreed sharply over the decision to sack presidential guard.
Primarily, they could not agree on the exercising of constitutional powers.
The two, President Said Abdullah Dani and Vice President Ahmed Elmi Osman do not see eye to eye on the nomination of Chief Presidential Guard and Deputy Chief Presidential Guard.
The Vice President, who is also known as Karash, felt that President Dani overstepped his powers by appointing presidential guard unilaterally.
Therefore, Karash issued a statement saying that the President never consulted him over this appointment in clear violation of the dictates of the country’s constitution.
According to the Vice President, the immediate former Deputy Chief of the Presidential Guard, Abdikani Mohamed Harbi, remains the legitimate and rightful holder of the office.
Harbi was recently sacked by the President.
In what could drive a wedge further between the two leaders, Karash has asked Adbikani to ignore Dani’s dismissal.
