Puntland regional police force has a new commander.
Brigadier General Muumin Abdi Shire officially took over as the new commander of the regional police force on October 31.
He took over from Brig. Gen. Baashir Ali Hashi during a handing over ceremony held at the headquarters of the regional Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Democratization.
The handing-over ceremony took place on Monday.
Brig. Gen. Shire promised to prioritize the welfare of Somali Police Force (SPF) officers serving in Puntland.
He also promised to work closely with security agencies and agents from other parts of the country to make Somalia safe for all.
His predecessor expressed hope in Brig. Gen. Shire’s ability to deliver on his responsibilities.
Brig. Gen. Shire takes over following changes that Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni made last month.
