On Sunday October 18, regional soldiers from Puntland stormed the premises of the Ministry of Fisheries to protest delayed salaries.
The soldiers also blocked the nearby streets.
According to witnesses, the soldiers showed up at the compound of the fisheries ministry demanding attention from authorities over delayed payment of their salaries.
They were also protesting poor working conditions.
However, they did not stay too long at the premises. Instead, they left after officials from the fisheries ministry addressed and pleaded with them to return to their barracks.
The ministry officials also promised to take the soldiers’ issues to the relevant authorities for fast and appropriate solutions.
Last year, Puntland soldiers also stormed the Central Bank in Garowe while protesting salary delays too.
