Puntland to Support Roble in the Prime Minister’s Fight with Farmaajo

Puntland has thrown its weight behind Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble who is currently embroiled in a fight with outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

The regional state, which is under President Said Abdullahi Deni, issued a statement saying that it is fully behind Prime Minister Roble.

In the statement, Deni’s administration commended Roble for leading the country well since assuming office in July 2020.

“We extend our congratulations to Prime Minister Roble for the exemplary leadership he’s provided to Somalia during this transition period,” part of Deni’s statement read.

Furthermore, Puntland reaffirmed its faith in Prime Minister Roble’s administration and leadership.

Deni’s administration has been at loggerheads with President Farmaajo’s regime for a long time. It’s not surprising that it now backs Roble in this tiff.

It urged Roble to continue working towards correcting the ills that Farmaajo’s administration brought to the entire country since taking over.

Somalia is currently in an electioneering mood with some of the regional states already conducting senatorial polls.

For a long time, especially prior to Roble’s appointment as Prime Minister, it seemed like Somalia would not hold elections.
