President Said Abdullahi Deni of Somalia’s semiautonomous region of Puntland held a meeting with officials from the United States Embassy in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on wide-ranging issues affecting the people of Somalia today.
According to a communiqué from the US Embassy, the two sides also discussed areas of mutual interests.
Additionally, the Embassy indicated that it encouraged President Deni to work closely with his fellow leaders of the Federal Member States to build consensus on the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, the Embassy encouraged all sides, especially Deni, to demonstrate leadership to ensure that Somalia continues to enjoy stability and security.
Deni met with the US Embassy officials on the sidelines of the meeting between FMS leaders and President Mohamed Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia in Mogadishu.
