The Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC) has concluded the registration of all political parties in the region.
In a press release published on Saturday August 1, TPEC confirmed that its registration exercise had been successful.
The exercise was for registering political parties that will be taking part in Puntland’s first local general elections, which are scheduled to take place in 2021.
TPEC asked political associations, in one of Somalia’s semiautonomous regions, interested in participating in next year’s elections to register.
It carried out the registration in three phases.
The agency completed the first phase of registration on March 15, 2020. It then concluded out the second on June 22, 2020 before completing the third on July 22, 2020.
